Heroes of the Gridiron: Parker Carmichael, A Triway Legend
It was Week 3 of the 2011 season, coach Tony Lee made a pivotal decision to put freshman quarterback Parker Carmichael on the field against Waynedale. What followed was the beginning of one of the most remarkable careers in Ohio high school football history.
Carmichael's senior season alone was record-breaking. He passed for an astounding 3,684 yards and 48 touchdowns, numbers that many high school quarterbacks would dream of achieving over an entire career. His precision was equally impressive, boasting a 74.4% completion rate and a near-perfect 12-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.
In one of the most unforgettable performances of his career, during a 74-47 victory over Waynedale, Carmichael racked up 710 yards of total offense—600 passing and 110 rushing—while accounting for an astonishing 11 touchdowns, six through the air and five on the ground. It was the kind of game that solidified his legacy as one of the all-time greats.
Carmichael's name is etched into Ohio's football history. He finished his high school career with 12,005 passing yards, placing him among the all-time OHSAA passing leaders:
1. 18,932 - Maty Mauk, Kenton (2008-2011)
2. 17,364 - Benjamin Mauk, Kenton (1999-2002)
3. 14,127 - Drew Novak, Western Brown (2019-2022)
4. 12,005 - Parker Carmichael, Wooster Triway (2011-2014)
Standing 5-foot-10 and 165 pounds, Carmichael's heart and talent far exceeded his physical stature. After an illustrious high school career, he committed to Ohio Dominican University, where he continued to excel. Today, Parker Carmichael serves as the Assistant Wide Receivers Coach at the University of South Florida, continuing to leave his mark on the game he loves.
Carmichael’s journey from a freshman quarterback to a coaching role at a major college program is a testament to his hard work, leadership, and football IQ. His high school career remains legendary, not only in Triway but across the state of Ohio

Game Preview: Triway at Manchester
Battle of the Undefeated PAC-7 Teams
Location: James R. France Stadium
Date: October 11th, 2024
Kickoff: 7 PM
In a clash of two teams that have defied all preseason expectations, the Triway Titans (6-1, PAC-7) will take on the undefeated Manchester Panthers (7-0, PAC-7) in a high-stakes showdown at James R. France Stadium.
Just a year ago, Triway football finished a shaky 5-6, while Manchester endured a disastrous 1-9 campaign. Neither team was on anyone’s radar for the 2024 season, as Canton South, led by seniors Poochie Snyder and Tavon Castle, dominated the PAC-7 last year.
However, the script has flipped in 2024, with both Triway and Manchester rising to the top of the conference. Manchester boasts an impressive 7-0 record, having allowed just 58 points all season. Triway stands strong at 6-1, their only loss coming at home to CVCA in a tough 37-7 defeat. Their defense has held opponents to just 93 points this season.
This game carries enormous weight. The winner will be in the driver’s seat for the PAC-7 championship, with a clear path to claim the title if they win out.
Upcoming Schedules:
Manchester: Home vs. Fairless
Triway: Home vs. Northwest, Home vs. Orrville
Expect an intense battle between two teams that have overcome adversity and are now fighting for the top spot in the PAC-7.
