This past Sunday we spent time with the wooster boys basketball team getting them ready for their upcoming and coming season.
We spent time taking with head coach Che Richardson about his background and coming from nearby Canton McKinley.
A graduate of Canton McKinley High School, Che concluded his high school basketball career with notable honors, earning 2nd Team All-Federal League and 2nd Team All-Stark County distinctions.
Che continued his basketball journey at Malone University, where he excelled as a four-year starter and served as a two-year team captain. In the 2012-13 season, he averaged 8.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, leading the team with 38 steals and earning Honorable Mention on the NCCAA All-East Region Team. During the 2011-12 season, Che set career-highs by averaging 9.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, which landed him on the NCCAA All-East Region 3rd Team. In his freshman year (2010-11), he made an immediate impact, averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game and earning a spot on the AMC All-Freshmen Team.
With eight years of coaching experience, Che has demonstrated a strong commitment to player development and leadership. His most recent role as a top Varsity Assistant at McKinley High School over the past four years highlights his dedication to his alma mater and the next generation of athletes.
